"Oh, now you tell me!"
I wonder if the key fits the monkey's cage.
Hoy por ti, manana por mi.
Monkey key.
(Also, that's a LOT of empty hold space.)
Yeah, they're not carrying much! Gen did require Cole not ask questions.
On a related note, there's some perspective problems, but the hold set came out better than I expected. Not bad for something I scribbled out on my lap.
YAFGC: well… she tried.
CoW: yeah… valid concerns.
I felt the gravity of their situation.
"Did we forget to pay the gravity bill this month?"
Is the serial number on that space crate one of the Beagle Boys?
Beagle Boys? What's that?
EDIT: Okay, just looked it up. A bunch of identical dog criminal characters (Usually up to 10 of them) from the Donald Duck comics. You saw a similarity in the number on the crate with the inmate numbers on their shirts. That’s….. a pretty obscure reference and a tenuous connection, congratulations! I would never have caught that.
In short: No. Never heard of them until now.
EDIT: Looking more closely at the artwork, the ‘Beagle Boys’ don’t look like beagles at all. They look more like bulldogs.
They're a lot more individually distinct in the DuckTales cartoon (either version). They even look like beagles with a bad shave.
What!? You never…? You need to read the Carl Barks library, stat!
And, that's not the slightest bit obscure.
I'm lacking in time, energy, and motivation. But if I get around it, I'll add it to my lengthy list. Keeping in mind that Disney stuff gives me anxiety.
But, i can say (without minor you) than how in all they are things betters and worse.
The ducktales of 90's were a good show (and they talk me very good about the remake)
And Gummi bears was a very stupid idea (cartoons to sell candy) who grow to a good history with it highs and lows (and more interesting if you compare with cartoons from this age)
Fantasy is a classical that times doesn't pass
And so more. Only have to found your point (and forget who makes you despise them. Many people blame Disney for the actual Star Wars but Lucas made it so long ago Disney put its eyes in the franchise)
That said, to search is time (who you said don't have many at the moment) and any one must find who spend it.
Let me explain the difference between my feelings for Disney Productions and Disney the Company.
Disney makes GREAT movies and shows. They're slick, they're often well written, they're beautiful, they're moving, they're funny. Usually. They've had a few duds, who doesn't, but for the most part they're earned their reputation.
HOWEVER:
Even before I got into the Animation Industry I'd heard rumours about how they weren't a lot of fun to work for. I heard more and more about how unpleasant Disney was as I learned more about the industry and the history of it. And then I started reading a book called "The Disney War" which documents the behind-the-scenes history of the company.
It was founded and run by a series of nasty, greedy, racist, sexist, nazi-sympathizing, backstabbing, fucknards. Everything they did was to kill, ruin, scavenge, cheat, and plagiarize other companies first, and their own employees second.
They often put out movies to SQUASH other companies' projects. "The Lion King" rips off "Kimba the White Lion". "A Bug's Life" killed "Ants". This happens again and again and again. I guarantee you if you search hard enough, for every Disney fucking "Classic" you'll find a forgotten similar animated film that came out around the same time by another studio.
Some other famous animation studios were founded by people getting the fuck out of the Disney toxic swamp. Like Warner Bros. the creators of the Bugs Bunny cartoons.
Also:
You know why they make shoddy live-action remakes of their "classic" cartoons? So they can stop giving royalties to the aging artists who worked on the originals. It's all about making ME ME ME money and fucking everyone else. I hate them with a burning passion.
So when I see something with the Disney brand on it, I know I'll probably enjoy it on the surface, but part of me is always wondering who got shafted this time.
Dumb as the Gummi Bears idea sounds, I'm fairly certain it was their attempt to overpower and kill the Ewok Adventures.
I’m pretty confident in saying that Disney never makes art for art’s sake. It’s a chess game. A battle. And each of their productions is a move in a war for all the money.
Also, Disney killed Motorcity 🙁
Magic key opens rope? Don't question it.
Bit ropey, that one.
In other words, she got the good news & bad news
To have been interrogated…she looks curiously unharmed…what those two have done a deal about?
This is starting to look very similar one of the old Sierra Games adventures where you need or acquire a string of objects to move forward.
And I'm here for it!
Oh! Cool. Yeah, I didn't think of that! hahah
I could say so more than gravity problemas we could expect space police problems.
And they are very angry when someone (without them) make funny of one of them.
Although they hate each others until the very end.
Yup. Only the 5th strip and they're accumulating problems rapidly!
Collective of Worlds:
I love that their respective reactions indicate who knows what's going on, and who is being kept in the dark.
t!
YAFGC:
Hmm, I don't see a lock on the monkey cage.
Funny line, Charles, but maybe you should be asking, of someone who's seen more of the ship: Key to what?
t!
Can't really reply to these without giving anything away. I just hope you're not too disappointed.
Not disappointed whatsoever!
t!
Rich, just out of curiosity, because I completely understand and agree with you about the movies and the company, I was wondering how you'd feel if they offered you a position. Not asking if you'd take it, just reaction. (Yes, that was a horrible parsing job of that sentence lol)
Well, the timing would be interesting. I'm not in a position to turn down an offer. A chance to work on a thing that wouldn't likely be swept away and forgotten a week after I completed it? That would be sweet. But there's a bunch of conditions that come with that:
I'd probably be expected to move. Disney doesn't have a studio in Halifax, so I'm guessing I'd have to move to Toronto or Vancouver, or worse, the US somewhere. THAT probably wouldn't be worth it at all.
If I did get into a Disney studio, they have weird regulations, like I'd have to keep my hair and beard a particular length.
I imagine it would be VERY hard work, with RIDICULOUS deadlines, in a toxic atmosphere. And I would enjoy NONE of it. But I need a paycheck, so no complaining.
While there are some studios that are unionized, most are not. And many that have tried have been destroyed. Those that have remained so have suffered a loss of work. So as artists, we’re in no position to really stand up to exploitation.
***** EDIT ******
Just as an interesting side note: Back in 1992 when I graduated from Sheridan College (Classical Animation), I did apply for a position at a Disney Studio, one of the first in Canada. I got a rejection letter with a mouse on it.
My art has a fire and life to it. But I think it’s not nearly disciplined enough to appeal to a megacorp studio like Disney.
Well, the confort and well living of the people you love is a strong reason because many fall for this oportunities.
It's more easy to say no and go on with the hard and strong principles when you had on your own.
Like it's said in economycs "Everyone have their prize" And i can say it's full real.
Very true…. very very true.
"Everyone have their prize"
I have been living this for 15 years.
