2757 Back In Your Cell Goddess
Rite of Summer is a M/M erotic romance, set in the turbulent summer of 1810.
From the blurb:
There are terrors worse than stage fright. Like falling in love.
Violinist Stephen Ashbrook is passionate about three things—his music, the excitement of life in London, and his lover, Evander Cade. It’s too bad that Evander only loves himself. A house party at their patron’s beautiful country estate seems like a chance for Stephen to remember who he is, when he’s not trying to live up to someone else’s harsh expectations.
Joshua Beaufort, a painter whose works are very much in demand among the right sort of people, has no expectations about this party at all. Until, that is, he finds out who else is on the guest list. Joshua swore off love long ago, but has been infatuated with Stephen since seeing his brilliant performance at Vauxhall. Now he has the chance to meet the object of his lust face to face—and more.
But changing an open relationship to a triad is a lot more complicated than it seems, and while Evander’s trying to climb the social ladder, Stephen’s trying to climb Joshua. When the dust settles, only two will remain standing…

Ah hah, so it IS Ranna, and not the daughter!
Which means…. hmmm, why the hell does Ranna bother with this one?
Wouldn’t you? Imagine, waking up in that body everyday, why do you think Arachne was so fixilated with her… oh right, because she is one of the Daughters of the Spider tasked to keep an eye (and a few hands) on Charlie
why the hell does Ranna bother with this one?
Ranna is magically bound into this body, by a coalition of gods, goddesses and other Interested Parties. It is intended that, with Charlotte’s "natural," mortal death, Ranna will also die. We are seeing, in this story arc, Ranna’s attempt to escape that fate.
I need to spend this weekend on an archive dive and refresh my memory on a number of details.
Thank you, Rich, for getting so much more of the archive up and in order! Yay! 😀
Well that’s one suspicion confirmed.
On the plus side though, at least Ranna won’t be able to access all of that knowledge that the Shaman that created the Valley had accumulated. That… would be bad.
How do we know he wasn’t getting it all from Ranna in the first place?
I think that he might have been before Ranna. Both Ranna and C’thier seem to be referenced as human goddesses and the shaman was from a time before humans really had a settled civilization.
Charlotte really a god wow, Jordan Why would she not have access all of that knowledge that the Shaman that created the Valley had accumulated? The Lab was destroyed but she read all the books and now we know about Charlotte it would stand to reason she remember it all.
Considering that she still had to look stuff up when making potions or whatever, she may remember a lot of it, but not enough to actually use it.
It’s been established that Charlotte has a rather small brain. I doubt it has enough room in it for a goddess *and* magical or alchemical formulae.
Morning, Ranna.
Long time no see, Charlotte’s body. I wonder where’s her own spirit, though…
Heh, it would be funny if Charlotte was up in the realm of the gods, messing about, while Ranna was in charge of her body. I can see Ranna thinking that she couldn’t get into any trouble up there, but never assume that Charlotte can’t find trouble! *chuckle*
I imagine that Dewcup has actually been better company, and some help to Ata, now that she is a proper wood elf, but her evil twin will yet be trouble, count on it. *waggles eyebrows*
Dun dunn DUUNNNN!!!
"I’d better find the damned thing."
Hope that is foreshadowing that we get more interaction with Ata and Dewcup. Since we are now in the "present" of YAFGC, our last contact with them in the Tomb (when Lewie departed) was several years ago … I’m curious to see what they’ve been doing with their time.
‘What’, or ‘Who’ 😉
Oh cruds, NOW it makes sense… WOW…
So what happens if people dismember/burn/turn to dust that Ranna body? She gets ticked, but so what? Destroy this ‘Charlotte’ body, too, while you have the chance. No body, no soul, no Goddess of Chaos — take the win.
Ranna should be tagged here.
