So either these are the two previous dark mistresses that joined Flannet (now given actual names), or rehabilitating/deprogramming them has been more successful than anticipated these past ten years.

    Honestly kinda hoping the latter.

The fact Runt wants to see ‘His’ Grace, implies that these are not Flannet’s bodyguard mistresses

Also, remember, not all DM’s were Rannite’s
Also also, they are at Castle Greyfort

        ???
Castle Greyfort is where Flannet and her DM recruits *live*, NR. I’m pretty two these two are the same ones we’ve met before, if only because they’re in the same place, serving the same people in the same job (chauffeuring.)

It’s good to see them happy and unbrainwashed, and I too hope that the rest of the Rannites who’d been converted against their will have landed on their feet as well!

"Your Grace" and "His Grace" are honourifics for a Duke. They’re used by people of inferior rank, and these two are about as low rank as they come in Greyfort.

One doesn’t close out the other. Like mucat, I also am sure these are Flannet’s DMs. They likely didn’t have anywhere else to go, nor a reason to want to.

Heh, nice exposition! You answered how far it was to Castle Elegrost, how they were traveling to get there, what happened to these two, and how the heck you make a dark mistress fit in with the new more formal style. I like the hair-net on the ponytail and the hat. Obviously no progress was made on getting the second-skin off, but hopefully the mistresses have managed to regain some of their free will and original personalities at least. If it is just a short ride in a formal coach, then Lucas and Cadugan putting on their more formal outfits now makes more sense. However much Cadugan hates it.

Also, referring back to the last strip, it is nice to know Flannet is going strong and more then capable of holding down the fort while Lucas, Cadugan, and Charles are all absent. I wonder if they left her as ‘Barroness Greyfort’ just by default? I also wonder if she ever found the few of her children that she was not in contact with. I know, I know, that is another story, and I am eager to be on with this one. I am just seething with questions. *dry chuckle*

Oh, also, I like the added use of a few different tones of grey and the shadows, it adds a lot to the depth and dimensionality of the scene.

Thanks! I like the effect but it looks too dark here. It was lighter on my tablet screen. I’ve got to adjust the balances on all of my screens so they match.

The nice thing about digital shading is that since it’s layers, it’s easier to simply swap them out. One shade for online, one for print.

One silly idea that might not work out: using moiré-shading like old newspapers? It might even work better on "retina" screens, but you never know until you try, I guess!

What I think works well is the limited palette. Reminds me of old newspaper comics, and fits in well with the cleaner lines. Sort of like Hergé (Tintin), or Morris (Lucky Luke).

Great idea, but I’m still learning how to add regular shading. I promise, as time permits, I will experiment as I learn.

Naroasa said she would use that whip on Fasi when she got back as a threat, Fasi took it as a promise

          February 2, 2021, 8:58 am | # | Reply

Apologies if I misunderstood where this conversation went, but "Promises promises" is an expression used to mean "if you say you’re going to do a thing, I expect you to do it" with a hint of "but I don’t believe you will and that disappoints me."

If you simply mean you ‘don’t get Guesticus’, you’re not alone.

            February 2, 2021, 9:04 am | #

Wait, first you accuse *me* of being ‘Guesticus’, now you are accusing argentlupus of being them

          • Rich Morris
            February 2, 2021, 9:14 am | #

I was talking to Hee Fone, Guesticus, not you. Certainly didn’t mean to imply that argentlupus might be Guesticus.
And I’m not accusing you of anything. I know for a fact that you’re Guesticus, why are you suddenly denying it now?
I banned your stupid ass ages ago but you made a new profile and came back pretending to be someone else. We know.

Its nice to see the two of them are still around!

@Rich: In my opinion it is way better with the shading as without it. Must admit, it still feels a bit strange though. Not because its bad, but rather that I’m too used to the old style.
Question: Now that these ladies got their names, will you update the nametags on their previous strips? It would be nice. 🙂

Fixed. You can now use the character name links to follow Fasi and Naroasa’s journey through YAFGC world. It’s longer than you might think.

Oh wow, so these two are among the original Dark Mistresses from the Dungeon Keeper’s realm. It might explain why they don’t come across as fanatical as some of the others do.

            February 2, 2021, 12:44 pm | #

My point was they were DMs before Ranna took over, thus loyalty to Ranna wasn’t part of their conversion. They just went along with it out of fear/sadism/nothing better to do.

DMs converted AFTER Ranna took over however likely would’ve been indoctrinated to have loyalty to her as part of the conversion (as seen with the hobgoblin girl we see saying "Yes…I see…Ranna is my goddess…" at the end of her conversion.)

To explain a bit more, Will Elder was the cartoonist best remembered from MAD comics for all the little details he’d put into his drawings. Will’s term for it was “chicken fat.” It was that little extra, like chicken fat in chicken soup thar might not be good for you, but made the soup more tasty.

Yes. They paint their feet. They’re also not really wearing clothes over their naked bodies. Their skin morphs to LOOK like jackets and ruffed sleeves. They weave their hair into hat patterns.

It is a lot more work, but with my new setup and software, it’s also fun. So we’ll see if I can find a balance I can maintain. If I get frustrated I’ll just go back to the way I used to do it, but for the moment, I’m having a good time with it.

I should do a spinoff comic of the adventures of various DM characters in YAFGC. Where they attempt to get involved in a plot, but it quickly dissolves into a crazy BDSM session.

All kinds of things /could/ be going on off panel and between strips. There’ve been two bondage conditioned, black gimp-suited sado-masochists working in the stables, a structure full of harnesses, straps, buckles, crops, and spurs, for the past ten years. Imagine what they’ve been getting up to.

Lacking a decked out torture chamber, that would seem to be an ideal environment for them. I figure Lucas laid down a few strict rules for them early on involving only playing their games with the willing, and told them they would have all their toys taken away and be made disturbingly comfortable if they broke the rules. Whatever they were told, it seems to have worked out for them.
