I’ve got some good news! I have penciled the 2nd Space YAFGC comic! As soon as I have a chance to sit down and scan and letter them and add the FX, I’ll start posting them here with regular YAFGC. And if I’m able to keep them going reasonably, I’ll look into getting them their own page, if not their own site.

So I had planned to update the site with new YAFGC and the first SPACE YAFGC strip today… but you know what? Windows 11 decided it was high time I moved up from Windows 10 and a weekend seemed like a good time to start the process. Well….. naturally troubles arose. Needless to say, I didn’t get it set up in the three days allotted. So I’ll update the site and then keep trying.
Also: I mentioned to Alex this weekend that there would be interest in him doing guest comics… and he wasn’t opposed to the idea! Fingers crossed. I’d love to see his artwork up here too.
Also-Also: For those of you who miss the old Forums, I’ve just set up a Discord server! It’s called YAFGConversations, and there’s nobody there but me so far. Thanks to “Doc the Kobold” for the suggestion.

Here’s a “fun” update. So while trying to upgrade my OS, Onedrive decided not to BACKUP my files so much as copy my folders and save those. JUST the folders. A bunch of EMPTY folders. I only did this just in case something went bad with my upgrade, but while nothing obvious DID go bad, it just kept updating Windows 10 for hours and then telling me that I still wasn’t ready for Windows 11 (I think it’s still doing more updates later today), but somehow I lost all my files from 2024 to today. So I went to Onedrive to get them back and found empty folders. Fortunately all my YAFGC stuff is on the YAFGC server untouched by Microshaft, but all my home computer files…. things like my updated resume…. DM notes for all my campaigns…. all my stored YAFGC notes and files… at least the ones that I didn’t have on thumbdrives…. all gone. And I STILL can’t upgrade to Windows 11.
Will report as things get better or worse.
Incidentally: If you are looking for me on Discord, I’m “richmorris_” you can friend request me, but please specify that you’re a YAFGC reader, and I’ll invite you in to the community. That, at least, appears to be working.

The speech is translated from Derp to Yarr. But does the dude in bicorn hat understand Yarr? He did not speak it himself…

1, awesome about space comic! Are you still excited about it?
2, yeah, computers and updates… I know it's not all of the situation, but maybe if they actually worked out m9re bugs instead of rushing it to market, products would function better. I hear France has passed a law negating planned obsolescence!
3, Super cool news about Alex. I hope he does, cuz the giving us the finger was hysterical! (I'll show myself out)
4, how do we access the new discord area, and is there anything noobs need to know? I have never knowingly been on a discord page.

1. YES! It's like YAFGC in that I don't have SOLID ideas for stories, but I'm excited to watch the new characters running around in their new enclosure/world. And also I'm using old PCs and NPCs and comic characters and stories and anything that isn't copyright infringement (or at least, is easily reserialed) as fodder and filler for this new setting. In fact, I'm using characters I created when I was in elementary school. Just, touched up and reworked so it's not so obvious they were created by a 12 yr old.
2: Go France! I just wish it were easy to deal with. I don't mind the computer stewing for a few hours, but if it actually FIXED the problems….
3: I hope so. I'll bug him from time to time to see if he stays interested. Maybe he and I can do a collab…. hmmmmmm…
4: Good question. I've played with and on Discord for a long time now, but this is the first channel I've MADE myself. And I believe you all need to be invited in. So check out the Discord site and get set up on it, then let me know what your profile is and I'll send out invitations to join the throng!

Man, this is all great news except for the windows song and dance, I think most of us have been there for longer than we wanted to. The thing takes your PC hostage and you can't really deny what it demands or you'll never use your PC again.
I've been trying to get into your discord server, but apparently it won't let me without an invite. That is Discord demands I provide in invite for any new server, not that your server in particular is giving issues.
Yeah it does need invitations Which is great for security, but difficult to start up a community. So you'll find me on Discord as "richmorris_". Do a friend request and I'll invite you in.
Thanks, I will, I see that some subreddits have a discord server and they have a button that leads you to their discord server and gets you in. I don't technically know how it works but it seems it would be possible to do without having to invite/accept every reader separately. see for example r/starcitizen

Sorry to hear about your back up tragedy. Just hope it didn’t wipe out commissions WIP as well.
I'm pretty sure it did. But I've got a new backup going now (on iDrive) which is taking its time. l'll look after.
Soon after my dad died, I went to bed and found the next day, Windows had bricked my father's laptop while attempting to do an overnight update I didn't authorize. I lost all the pictures of his final years and family photos that are impossible to retrieve. So now I disable Windows ability to update, and to restart my computer, and to turn itself on during the night.
Things like that is why nothing is on my computer. It's all saved to removable storage devices, which has saved me a massive amount of grief over the years (I had systems bricked by the forced upgrade to Win 7, Win 8 and Win 10).
I still burn backups of all photos and important documents to a data DVD, and honestly, been messing around with dual-booting a linux distro (distribution) since windows 10 was released… I reccomend testing one out that's stable. I've bricked too many hardrives before starting to test linux to trust media I want saved on a single location.
Of course, the Windows ME era taught me how to reinstall the operating system (every 3-5 months cause it was so unstable) so I'm very familiar with how to deal with that…
