Both are correct. France\Russia for a few months, and usa vs England for a few years. Honestly, on the us, the 1812 war (between us and england) isn't covered much in many classes, although i do recall being told about the impressment. I don't remember anything about the french\russian war of 1812, but then World History class mostly covered european history (sigh) The musical work 1812 gets a lot of play during 4th of july (us independence day) fireworks. Which is awesome in that many places use a real cannon for an instrument. And it's a kick ass song 😁
Actually, the impressment issue had already been resolved. We declared war anyway. We really wanted Canada (we invaded back in 1775 and came close to taking Quebec City six months before declaring independence). We also were trying to help Napoleon with his wars, despite over half our trade being with Britain.
It was a stupid war, and we came closing to losing everything more than once. Fortunately Bladensburg was followed by Fort McHenry and war exhaustion in London carried the day
Please tell me that mustache and beard are bright red.
Here’s hoping the rescue goes well and Glonda is better at rescues than her grandfather was… I’m worried she might either get fooled or dismissed.
The navy captain's a dwarf?
Might be a gnome; dwarves are usually broader.
Two to one he is the leader of the pirates.
Who is in?
Yeah, that's one of my fears too.
I mean, navies did a lot of kidnapping too. Kinda caused a war or two.
I'm a foreigner, I wouldn't know about that.
It's called impressment, but really it was just another version of the draft. Just nautical instead of labor or military.
British naval ships just kidnapping U.S. sailors and forcing them to work on British ships was one of the listed causes of the War of 1812.
Oh, huh!
I thought the War of 1812 was France vs Russia.

"To shreds, you say?"
