Nice to see you back, I have missed some updates clearly.

That was a dad joke because, you know…some people maybe call him "father".
    Ok, I’m leaving

I’m starting to get surprised that it wasn’t the Abbot that got murdered.

…which, of course, brings up the possibility that either Taurenil attempted to murder him and he turned the tables on her, or that whoever murdered Taurenil originally targeted the Abbot.

Of course, that doesn’t really sound all that possible given the murder method, but I’ll give it a benefit of doubt anyway, just in case.

He’s had a lot of close calls. Back before magic diminished, he used to rely on the Magic Vestment enchantment every time he left the abbey.

That was a hard habit to break.

The butler did it. Otherwise I’m fresh out ideas. Did she not want to see her own reflection or was she afraid of someone watching her?

Or was the normal position of the wardrobe in front of something she wanted to access regularly, like a secret panel or secret passage?

Magic is greatly diminished, but not entirely gone. So seeing her true self might have been too much. In any case, it is another bit of circumstantial evidence supporting the hypothesis that Taurenil was an imposter.

Heigh, it seems, is trying to downplay the significance. He might not be guilty of performing the murder, but it does seem like he is Abbot-ing as an accomplice.

The reason the game was played in the abbey is that it has an anti-magic field that prevents magical cheating.

        So this is completely mundane.

An important point, to be sure. What hasn’t been entirely established in Rich’s world is just how much "inherent" magic is still allowed. Some creatures still exist in this world that would otherwise be impossible without magic.

For the sake of simplicity, let us assume that what is prevented is the casting of spells, but creatures like vampires can still exist until disproven. Otherwise it would… reflect badly.

Poor Abbot Heigh. It worked when he told that to the visiting mother superior; nun laughed.

    So many suppositions here.

Agree with *both* suppositions regarding the mirror–whether Taurenil wanted to avoid being spied on, or if perhaps the mirror would reveal her form as other than what’s been shown. (*Usagi Yojimbo * always liked that trope).

I think his habit is dirty, time for some laundry.

When he takes it off, he should give it a good boot, then he will have kicked the habit.

Habit jokes. A staple for nuns and friars everywhere.

I know, I know, some are so old and crusty, they are practically petrified. They need percussive treatment to even be washed.

A hard habit to break, n’est-ce pas?

All of these habit and abbey jokes are becoming surplice to requirements…

As to what occurred in-strip, it seems more and more a case of "pyx, or it didn’t happen".

If this were animated, I’d also expect a triumphant musical cue…that immediately peters out.

I’m with the Abbott on this one, at least part way. Oh, come one. A prolonged eye roll, fine, but a death stare is going too far, especially from everyone else. It was there. Don’t pretend it’s not.

Now if he did think it was really good, then both sides need to keep perspective.

    *ponders*

Wondering if Taurenil was a vampire (so no vitals if checked) or blocking the mirror to stop a Fetch from coming for her.

Wasn’t Kurrasa (iirc) trapped in a mirror for some time? Maybe there’s a connection to the past here?

Again, that seems quite suspicious, and really suggests that there was something weird about her that wouldn't fit with this just being a simple grudge.
