    Have to wonder why Cadugan didn't say anything earlier. Did he just want Lucas to make a fool of himself by wrongly accusing Ealing? Seems a bit mean.

      Lucas did already know that the murderer is short because Cadugan told him earlier on page 1087. This may in fact be "artistic license" – a way to remind the readers about this specific detail in case they missed it or forgot.
