Cadugan looks sharper-faced\older\somehow different than the later strips. Still got the fantastic smirk tho!
It sometimes takes characters a little while to find themselves and become who they will ultimately BE. Cadugan was meant to be older (that is, more mature, he is pretty old already) and wiser, like a mysterious guardian spirit of the woods, but he later developed into the somewhat bratty mysanthrope hermit that I enjoyed writing more. Their looks change too.
Poor Maula Bloodhand went through a phase where she was an obese snarky aunt before she slimmed out again and became the more proper cynical Orc Matriarch.
