That is both a surprisingly strong and surprisingly malleable pan.
Must be a copper one, a cast iron pan would surely have shattered.
Can't be cast iron. Might be steel, but I'm guessing copper. If he cleans it by dunking it in water while it's still hot, that would basically anneal it to dead soft.
