My suspicion is that this was Cadugan and Lucas, a test of how well sound would travel, though there is a trope in murder mysteries that during the investigation another may be killed, or at least an attempt made on the life of the investigator.
Hopefully we will not have to wait too long for an answer!
Well the fact that Harpsichords aren’t loud, yet the local Otyugh thought that it was, implies some kind of sound amplification thing going on with the architecture, like the "Whisper Spot" effect.
I don’t think this is to prove that the hapischord was or wasn’t the murder weapon. It’s been clearly proven to be the needle (and she was poisoned before into stupor, so Taurenil wouldn’t scream).
What this could prove (assuming it isn’t the second murder twist) is that the harpsichord event could not have happened at lunch, as everyone would have heard, and instead must have happened before (but after the game), which could give Maula an alibi at that time.
I wonder if this was heard in the sellers, or if it petered out. I also hope it was just a test, and everyone is in the pink (or whatever their natural color), and it’s leading to a clouseau the mystery is solved and Maula exonerated
With the puzzle seeming to turn on who could hear what, when, I’m sure that Bernard the deaf mouse (and his mysterious tail injury) are key to something. I still can’t figure out WHAT, but I bet when the last clue falls into place, I’ll be kicking myself for being slow on the uptake.
And here it comes…
Well, that’s never good.
Louder than a harpsichord.

LOL yes! if Taurenil had been able to come to when the harpsichord dropped on her, then she would have screamed that and everyone would have heard it
Yeah, that’s what I suspect too.

Whatโs really going on is that they just kept the blasted thing hanging because they had a betting pool.

If no one heard the harpsichord fall, it had to have happened while the bells were ringing. Otherwise, everyone would have heard it.
Turns out the mouse has one mega set of lungs.
I’m thinking, like Mel Blanc. ๐
The comments on this are as fun as I’d hoped!

> clouseau
THIS.
(it’s not dark; i do not care)
Despite an insanely huge list to choose from, my runaway favourite Mancini piece.

"Every move I make is carefully planned, Madame." he said, after tripping over a hassock.
If you leave us out to Dreyfus, I’ll be *very* disappointed.
Hmm… Bindi is the only one who isn’t reacting shocked at the scream for help.
Then again, I might just be reading her wrong.
Hard to tell since she has her back to us.
mouse tail injury – from being inside a falling harpsichord perhaps?
But no mouse would hang out inside a harpsichord! At any moment with no warning, it could get really lou….oh.
