Mother’s pride? Oh, do you mean Flannet in panel 1?

Yes, she seems quite pleased with her daughter for someone who just got hoodwinked 🙂

I just re-read Flannets last storyline, and it seems that while she and her halfling husband were happy together, it seems he lives pretty far away. The whole reason they aren’t together is after their home was destroyed they had to pick somewhere new to live and he wanted to live in a more halfling community that was a kingdom away, and she couldn’t move that far away from her other children.

So I’d say it’s just far away and would require seeing her other kids who don’t have the parental care Ryann does less.

Yep. Flannet doesn’t seem to hold a grudge. 😉

Love this–and kudos for the earlier comic reference, Obscurial. Anyone who can take down an ankheg with one shot is certified hardcore. Another skill that seems to be passed on generationally. 😀

I might be wrong but this is the first time Flannet is shown not wearing glasses.

Actually, we’ve seen her without glasses before.

Argh, that was awful. I applaud you.

So Urzal is (orc)Face, and Ryann gas GOT to be Hannibal. I suppose Gwen would make a decent B.A. since she towers over most of the others. So, by process of elimination…

…someone get Nevena an airship and a rotating series of imaginary friends, STAT!

I was just imagining how awesome a spinoff of these four would be, and riffed on that.

        The speculation is fun, though!

The two Dark Mistresses working for Flannet, you mean? That is exactly what they did.

No one is going to mention the fact that one of them has a new style? I mean looking back over some of the links. One of them has literally changed hair styles.

It was brought up in the comments section of strip 3217, but for convenience I’ll copy/paste my reply:

"Hahahah! Actually that’s a great observation! There’s actually a reason for this, but I gave up on the specific strip that would explain it. The two Mistresses are terrified that they’ll be recognized as two of those ‘lost’ in the reclaiming of Castle Greyfort. So to disguise them Flannet does their hair differently. Joke being that it’s the only way they can be told apart."

It’s a good idea cause it makes it easier to tell them apart and they can develop individual personalities.

Did more than the these two Dark Mistresses surrender or did one of them change her hairstyle and colour since their surrender?

According to Rich (re-quoted just a couple posts up from yours), the new hairstyles are a disguise. Apparently hair is the only way to tell Dark Mistresses apart…even to another Dark Mistress.

Thanks, but oh my, I should have read the comments more carefully, well I guess it’s time for Seppuku.

We’ve seen short Dark Mistresses and tall ones, clearly different starting species. We have also seen some fat ones, presumably fat from before conversion. So I dispute that they ALL look alike. I’ll agree that for many of them hair (which can include snakes) is the only way to tell them apart.
