Typical idiots logic: if no one managed to return from finding it, then obviously it never existed in the first place
That’s what they said about the second toilet in EverQuest 2

The total lack of remains of a Rannite temple is more compelling evidence, no?

The complete and total lack of something is not necessarily "evidence." It can be strongly supporting information for a particular theory … but, in and of itself, something that isn’t there is very rarely substantive enough (physically or logically) to constitute established, factual evidence.

It can, however, vigorously promote rumor, assumption, speculation, self-referencing preconception, etc.

In a world of powerful magic, filled with divine creatures and gods, the lack of something merely indicates to me the possibility that a seriously angry god could very thoroughly "un-make" something to the point mere mortals could never detect it. Thus, legends: those rumors and gossip that echo through ages of history.

By the way, I’ve never thanked you for this magnificent comic. As a former RP gamer & recovering Dungeonmaster, I’ve been following this compulsively for some years now.

Thank you very much! I really look forward to this whenever you are able to update. 😎

Yes, well obviously he’s wrong, but he wasn’t basing his conclusion entirely on the fact that nobody could find the treasure, but that nobody could find anything left of an Empire that supposedly spanned the globe.
Anyway, yes he’s being unreasonable and I agree that you can’t prove anything with a negative. (The old "you can’t prove I’m wrong, therefore I’m right" BS) It’s clear that he’s got some emotional reaction to the whole Ancient Rannite Empire thing.

And thank you for reading! It’s nice to have a bit of time to actually do them again. However, it will be nicer for me to get back to actual professional work again soonish.

As the saying goes, a lack of evidence is not the same thing as evidence of lack.

That "saying" is used mainly by Creationists to try and discredit science by dragging it down to the same level as religion.

"No means yes" is also a "saying"; that doesn’t make it a good or a right one.

You have misinterpreted the saying; All it means is that more *compelling* & confirmable evidence is needed, in favor of either way.

No, it's used by anyone with the most basic understanding of logic. You can't prove a negative.

A lack of evidence of an elephant in my living room is not evidence of elephants not existing on earth. But it is pretty compelling evidence of them not existing in my living room.

The absence of evidence can absolutely be evidenced of absence, as long as the scales are correct.

If there’s no dead body, did a murder ever take place? ??

Princess Ata! I’ve not seen her since Lewie’s flashbacks. 😀 So this is where she’s been, been wondering why her disappearance was never explained.

Ok, Rich – you managed to get me twice with what I still don’t know are typos or clever wordplays 🙂
First, I spent about half a minute wondering about "dispursed" (panel 4). Did Ranna’s followers have their financial support cancelled?
Then "malarchy" in panel 6, that one is even harder because both "malarkey" (a bunkum story) and "malarchy" (rule of the evil, misrule) would work.
Doesn’t matter, I really enjoy YAFGC

Let’s go with….. I’m very very clever. I like that answer much better.
