Don’t forget that Kitsune-like chick who was trying to seduce Cadugan by transforming into an elf-maiden. She might be the source of a few dark tales of The Fox as well.
My bet is they will think Cadugan is the fox, simply because an actual fox is following him! (Also, they identify it as "him", so – except if there is some misinformation in the mix – it must be a male creature.)
