As much as I’m happy to see Fatinah fighting against her old master, I hope she doesn’t kill him. In the event Ch’thier has to sacrifice herself to stop Ranna, coercing Kurassa may be the only way the good guys have of undoing many of Ranna’s curses.

just have Lewie resurrect him as an undead. just because he has skin now doesn’t mean he suddenly forgot how to do necromancy.

That’s assuming Lewie can reanimate him into a form that retains spellcasting ability but not free will. Sure, he managed it when Kila was backing him up, but I’d imagine his powers aren’t what they once were without her influence.

Kur doesn’t need to retain his spellcasting ability, just his knowledge, and only needs to stay long enough to tell Lewie how he did it, then… bye-bye Kur (again)

There are plenty of spells that allow mages or clerics to communicate with the dead and force them to answer questions.

Hehe, in one of my roleplaying games the necromancer had a spell to communicate the dead. But he couldn’t force them to answer truthfully so we hat a lot of fun.

In one of my roleplaying games the ‘Speak with Dead’ spell did compel a truthful answer, only problem was that the person wasn’t inclined to help (often having just been killed by our group) and so tended to give a variety of honest-but-unhelpful answers.
Player: Can you tell us about the traps ahead? Dead Bandit: Yes.
Player: Tell me about the specific type of the traps set by your fellow bandits. Dead Bandit: They are supposed to injure intruders.

A corpse is a corpse of course of course
And no one can talk to a corpse of course.
But I can speak to a corpse of course
‘cos I’ve cast Speak with Dead!

Aww thanks Fang FanGirl. Though I can’t claim credit. Not sure where it came form – the origin is lost to my BECMI or 2e youth…

Even if it’s not yours, the fact that you quoted it was enough to make my day. It reminded me of my gaming groups over the years and those memories always make me smile, so thank you!

Maybe not. The lecherous old dog gloated about his discovery in front of the slave in the library, and she most likely isn’t as dumb as she seems. As I recall, her dialog suggests she was a "lab assistant" before Kurassa moved in, so she has just enough knowledge to pass along.

Can Fatinah teleport herself, or did she get a lift from one of the mages?

Either way, she seems to have put her time with the priestesses to good use, and learned a whole new skillset that Kurassa would never expect…

No she just snuck up on him and then used a smoke bomb for the dramatic reveal. Mages have an overdeveloped sense of the dramatic !

I was going to ask who goes around testing this.

But then I figured: If you’re in the jaws of a Rottweiler, you’ll try anything to get out, no matter how desperate.

I think they let go of your neck in order to bite the offending digit, so it’s better if you use someone else’s finger.

While I am enjoying this whole battle, (way to blast Kurassa there, Fatinah) a small part of me is wondering if this is going to be the grand finale of YAFGC.

Probably wants to take down the flying ship.

    Teleport!
    Death touch!

(or something, not exactly certain what she did there, actually looked like some sort of shock that disrupted the magic he was gathering, which could be unhealthy for him and everyone within several feet of him)

Gotta say, though: Kurassa yelling out "POWER UP! BLAST!" is kinda like that guy in District 13 shouting "PARKOUR!" every time he makes a leap.
