Considering that she really can’t be killed, (none of the gods want her, because she’d kick ALL of their butts!) She may be the only one who can save the world!
Considering that she was probably revived by Ranna when she consumed Gruuumsh, that is a highly optimistic view. Then again, it's unlikely that anyone actually controls Jone.
No, she can’t be a bodak. For one, bodaks are created by other bodaks, when they kill with their gaze, and Joan died in a booze fire. For another, Bodaks kill with their gaze: Joan’s eyes are scary but Glon is not dead.
Bodaks can also emerge from those slain on the Nether Planes or by or in the presence of a great evil – though I doubt that Joan’s death qualifies for either. Regarding the gaze attack – possible if it can be suppressed voluntarily. But I don’t know if that’s the case, and Joan never used one (though maybe because she prefers slaughtering people with her sword).
I say, for me it isn’t completely ruled out, but doubts are justified 😉
If I had to venture a guess at what type of undead jone is, I would go with a drauger. Not sure if I spelled that right. They’re absolute beasts in battle, near impossible to reason with, and formed from those who die in a grave injustice. The only ways to put one down is a literal army of heroes, a god sacrificing their divinity, or leading them into a inescapable catacombs. Simply put, they’re a doomsday monster.
Sounds good so far, but according to mythology, a draugr’s appearance depends on the way it died. Someone who died in a fiery explosion would look like a burnt corpse as a draugr. That is, if draugrs couldn’t be destroyed by fire anyways.
Your right about their standard appearance, though their extended power set includes shape shifting. Admittedly that shape shifting is usually expressed with animal forms and size manipulation, but assuming the form of their past life isn’t unheard of. Also, at first she did look like a burnt corpse.
I could be wrong, my main reason for guessing drauger is that would make her powerful enough to give Ranna some serious trouble. My guess on why she came back is because groomsh and ranna’s sister wouldn’t take her. She has always had a serious hate for humans and Orcs, men especially. At same time, she seemed to differentiate hybrids. How she reacted to glon now and cadugan before. Another thing is that ranna’s orc god form looks alot like jone’s mom, and I could see that biting back really bad.
I am going to turn my hope into a theory; Jone does not have any God-granted super power anymore. Glon may be able to hold her down long enough to explain a thing or two and maybe she will calm down… or just become something a little more reasonable.
Meh, I’m just coming back to have another look after a long hiatus, all that mega-death was too much. A rational Jone would make up for some of that.
Maybe Jone chose to be Gruumsh’s WMD to protect the one person (other than her mother) who was nice to her… murdering everything she saw as a threat to Glon’s (and her) happiness.
Jone is looking rather not-undead at the moment. I’m thinking that, whatever type of undead she is (I’ve voting for either wight or death knight), she rejuvenates by killing others.
Yeah, she’s been gradually getting more and more of her meat back (such as it is; she was always pretty skinny). I noticed that too. Seems she’s all the way back to her pre-dead status by this point.
… which actually gives the idea that she’s able to remember more of her pre-berserker life more credence.
💔 😠Ack! I had first hoped for so much good to befall Jone (and maybe a few platters of cheeseburgers), but then things went to shit for her before I thought to comment, and now there’s this, and it’s tragically poignant, and I _really_ hope that things workout well for her this time (and that she finally gets those platters of cheeseburgers)…

Shit. This is heartbreaking.
Damn it, Jone, you’re a bad guy now; stop remembering when you weren’t.
Oh, the tension…
Hope they can convince Jone to help them. She’s pretty much their only hope against the Rannites.

Karma… when a deed done good come back to save you… the opposite of nemesis.
I’m in awe of how you are playing this out Rich
I’m speachless…
This is great
Is she …a bodak?!

There’s also that bodaks are supposed to look like this: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/6/62/Bodak_-_Sam_Wood.jpg
No way. DiTerlizzi is canon! 😀

This is not going to end well
I keep reading this over and over, trying to figure out what she is trying to tell him.
Heartbreaking. Because I don’t think (based partly on the title) that she’s ever going to get what she wanted there.
Current guess: "Do you still like me?" She knows what she’s become, and is looking for redemption.
t!
I’m reading it as:
Panel 9: "You remember who I am?"
Panel 10: "What happened to me?"
You should have been there to help out with that.
I am going to turn my hope into a theory; Jone does not have any God-granted super power anymore. Glon may be able to hold her down long enough to explain a thing or two and maybe she will calm down… or just become something a little more reasonable.

She’s saying:
"I" (pointing to herself)
"Love" (pointing to her heart)
But she didn’t had time to point Glon
Oh yeah; this is also one of the best pages I have seen in my life, in any comic ever printed.
Period.
Well done, Rich! Great dramatic pause while continuing to build up the suspense about what’s going to happen next.
Is beserker Jone about to meet beserker Glon?
It’s been a breakneck ride since the three thousandth. Wow.
When protecting his family Glon can put on a pretty scary ‘Jone’ face. Teeth bared, eyes nearly popping out, pure rage.
I’m guessing that seeing that look directed at her for once will trigger something in Jone.
Yes the only more scary thing then Jone on her usual rampage killing is Glon protect his family…..
Just a random little thought.
Maybe Jone chose to be Gruumsh’s WMD to protect the one person (other than her mother) who was nice to her… murdering everything she saw as a threat to Glon’s (and her) happiness.
The blacksmith was also nice to her but he is dead….
