Nope’s point is that Niko, like Elgin Muc before her, is now the curse’s executioner. If the curse works the way many here think it does, then until Niko claims a victim, she’s stuck wandering the physical plane and can’t move on to the afterlife.
Though… Elgin Muc didn’t move on to the afterlife immediately. He hung around long enough to push Flannet off the tower! Maybe that was just him briefly getting away with not following the rules, but still, we don’t know yet for sure what happens to the curse’s previous executioner after they’ve dealt with a victim.
Quite true. But it seems like a decent guess that Niko will have to hang around *at least* long enough to bag a replacement executioner. and thus isn’t yet due in Ranna’s office for a performance review. 😉
Now we just need to find out what happened to Lucas and Maran, and sort out who currently has what title, and I suspect the story will move on to check in on some of the many other characters. Though I could be wrong. I want to know what happened with Bob and Gren, and Maula… so many others. We still don’t know what happened with Lewie either.
Wonderful comic! It’s great to see Flannet survived. It’s also fun to see how quickly Cadugan and Charles have gotten into being brotherly snarky with each other.
I hope those two Dark-Mistresses-with-second-thoughts are fast talkers. It occurs to me that the only corporeal person who knows they surrendered has been out of commission for at a few hours or days…and they’ll be prime suspects in pushing Flannet off the tower.
I guess the one thing going in their favour is that the bloodlust of the lycanthropes seems to have been slaked. They managed to get Flannet into the care of her sons without infecting her it seems, and as I said elsewhere, there was enough freshly killed food (ahem) available.
