No, is name IS "Mauler", but it’s in honor of his mother.
You could name your son "Victor" in honor of Queen Victoria, but that doesn’t mean his name is really "Victoria".
Now, the meta revelation that might blow your mind is, Maula, Queen of Orcs (since there’s no "under the mountain" anymore), HER name is a pun off of the word, "mauler". Many of Rich’s character names are puns or subtle references to other names or words that mean something to his audience.
So really, you had that exactly backwards. ^_-

Man … you KNOW a comic’s been running a while when you get introduced to the 3rd generation of offspring. That isn’t even counting the depth of the backstory. I get that there’s a bit of a difference in lifespan between orcs and elves. But, still.
Very happily looking forward to warthing these little monsters grow up. 😆
If you're talking about generations of offspring, it's the second generation. We started with Maula, Glon was the first generation of offspring, and now his children are the third generation overall, but only the second generation of offspring.
