Judging by history, when society is on the verge of collapse and cultists are committing open slaughter it’s the BEST time for thoughtless racism. I don’t think pillars of the heavens crumbling under the oppression of a demon goddess happened in our history, but I’m sure people would take that as opportunity for thoughtless racism as well. I hope everyone can hear it over my cynicism.
With a little less cynicism, people are actually inclined to look for scapegoats in hard times. Back to cynicism, people that are foreigners, religious, or otherwise different make way better scapegoats than your own flaws (you’d have to change to make things better if that was the case, and that’s just unthinkable).
In his defence (and without inference that I disagree substantially with anything said here), it IS a time of great war, and the Black Mountain Orcs HAVE marched on Elegrost in living memory.
Oops. Kinda forgot that you lot have not made many friends amongst the humans, even though you grew up as an ugly human, as I recall. Kind of understandable that Fisherman Flugg, with no knowledge of what a Rannite is, might think you are a threat.
