You're going to be noticing some weirdnesses cropping up here and at the Comics Blog over the next week or so. We're in the process of moving to a different web host, and there will undoubtedly be some glitches as I port databases and set up the various blogs and forums again at the new place.

The domains will stay the same, though some links in the comics blog will be changing.

Please bear with us, and with any luck we'll be able to set up shop in the new place without too much disruption.

If you're changing links, could you add one back to the strips, or at least to the main page?

My priority is basic functionality and transferring content at this point. Style tweaks and hacking phpbb3 so it'll accept html in the header will have to wait.

OK! We should now be all nice and cozy over at Dreamhost. The DNS appears to have propagated appropriately, and we are live and on the air!

Let me know if/when you find bugs. I know a couple of avatars had to be manually reloaded, some of the smileys aren't in yet. If you come across an error, please copy and paste the code in here so I can see where it's at - if you can include info on what you were doing when the error happened, that would be very useful as well.

My avatar was black and white this morning, but it's back to color now. Haven't noticed anything else yet--the smileys I've used came up and all that.

The navigation sidebar or whatever would be nice, but if it's a hassle I can live without it.

OK - I may be confused (it's been known to happen!). What are you asking for? People have been ragging on me to get a link to the comic in the header file, which I have thus far been unable to make work. Did you mean something else?

I was thinking you could just copy over the sidebar on the comics page (with the links to the character gallery, Agony Aunt Arachne and the rest). But if it isn't that simple (my programming stopped with Turbo Pascal, so I have no idea what you use a decade and more later), I don't want to put you out of time you could spend far more profitably with friends and family.

Unfortunately, it's nowhere near that simple. The strip pages are generated through a program called iStrip, using an entirely different template system (tpl) than the pages associated with the forum (generated through php). I'm still learning php and how to tweak it, and a link back to the comic is still on my list of things to figure out.

Points up at the header

Fellgrin: Will that do for now? It's not pretty, but the links are functional.

Spiffy. You click on it and it takes you where you wish to go.

Take one of these => :trophy: and a pat on the back. You deserve it.

Well, you probably deserve a bit more for putting up with us whiney folks, but I only deal in trophy icons.
