Can you set up the Board, so that members can help you delete Spam?
I'd be glad to zap a few.

I've PMed them about this a few times, with no responses. Heck, DM hasn't been here in two years, I think.

If you'll excuse me, I have some more reports to file.

I certainly agree that some of us could help. I would be willing to do so as part of a group effort though, having my ups and downs, wouldn't want to be the sole person so delegated. Anyone with their own status plus the top two or three levels of posting seniority ought to be trustworthy.

Just leaving it to Demigods would be Timemonkey and myself (and Aebliss, should they come by). Since I'm the only one here pretty much every day, that means me.

Aebliss has been posting recently.

It's unfortunate that there's no obvious way for us to see a table of last on times. I think enabling about half a dozen of us should mean that no one person ends up doing all the work and someone might see the spam within a day or so.

I must admit that part of what puts me off looking in is that there is such a poor signal to noise ratio. Removing the spam would make it a lot easier to check for stuff worth reading.

I think the functions we would need are delete (spam) and ban (spammers) with an agreement that doing anything against other posters would need more than one of us to want that or DM to do it.

Yes, but she bailed once the crossover arc started, came back for one day after I PMed her on her tenth anniversary, then left again.

So, apparently I'm becoming a Mod as soon as BK figures out how to alter my status (or gets Hilary to do it).

Any ideas for what my new title should be? I'm thinking Lord High Executioner, with an avatar of the dark knight variety. Probably with a kobold skull or three for accent, as I intend to be placing a lot of spammers' skulls at the feet of our liege lady.

Ah good! BK is following up on my email exchange with him over Christmas. My instinct is that a second moderator would help should you go on holiday somewhere without internet access.

No idea. My last PM on the subject was over a month ago, and still hasn't been read.

At this point, it'd probably be easier to just nuke the forums and only have comments on the main page. If I go to kill all the spam, well, I think that'd be over a thousand deleted posts at this point (I'm at ~250 reports so far this year). The database would crash.

Okay, so that's done. I stopped counting after a while, but I think that's about 20 bans and pushing 600 deleted posts. Now we can move forward.

BK, are you going to send out an e-mail blast to invite back old posters?

Protip: deleting the report doesn't affect the spam. Deleting the spam removes the report.
